My Nuclear Abstraction series began in May of 2015 during a visit to the National museum of Nuclear Science and History. Housed at the museum is the America Flag that flew at Trinity Site when the first Atomic Bomb was detonated in July of 1945.

In addition to the flag, and in the same room, is Fat Man and Little Boy, and the 1942 Packard limo that Oppenheimer and the other top scientists from Los Alamos had used.

I’m not sure how many times I returned to the museum over the next three years but the photographs I created led to a five month exhibition titled Pictures from the Museum: A Visual Exploration of the Nuclear Age.
